The fifth edition of Cape Town Electronic Music Festival is locked and loaded! Since 2012, CTEMF has set the standard for electronic music gatherings in SA and continues to raise the game by bringing out the very best that the South African and International electronic music industry has to offer! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As the premier showcase of global and local electronic music culture, CTEMF has featured some of the biggest names in the electronic music industry including Caspa, HVOB, Dixon, J.Phlip, Justin Martin Music Page, Noisia, Anja Schneider, LOCO DICE, Maelstrom, Slugabed, Mr. Carmack, Branko, Charles Webster, Richie Hawtin, Esa and Sayyd. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ CTEMF 2016 kicks off at the incredible Cape Town City Hall from the 5th to the 7th of February. This year’s line-up features a selection of the finest artists from the world’s top electronic genres – from hip-hop, disco and bass, to house, techno and electro, and everything in between. The initial artist selection has been announced and you can expect the full line up to follow on the 12th of January 2016. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ HEADLINING ACTS ________________________________________________________________________ Boris Brejcha – there was no genre that quite described his sound, so he invented his own…“Hightech Minimal” was the first step into a new era of electronic music. Boris produces his music with an unmatched variety of sounds. Each song is an adventure in itself. ________________________________________________________________________ Goldie – Cult-status graffiti maestro, hip-hop and drum ‘n’ bass icon, DJ, actor and producer, Goldie is an artist whose creativity knows no bounds. Dubbed the “King of Jungle”, he has sold more than 2.5 million records worldwide. ________________________________________________________________________ Harri & Domenic – This influential DJ duo have been holding down the underground music scene in Glasgow from Sub Club since 1994. They’ve kept the dancers dancing, and continue to inspire local DJs with their intoxicating sound. Both are accomplished producers, but when they come together, that’s when the real magic happens. ________________________________________________________________________ Nightmares On Wax – the man behind the mysterious name, George Evelyn stands as Warp Records’ longest serving artist. Evelyn is a pioneer of Bristol’s trip-hop scene and his powerful, soulful and funky records span three decades. Nightmares on Wax is a visual and melodic journey that uses signature meditative beats paired with a healthy dose of funk. ________________________________________________________________________ LOCAL ACTS Adam De Smidt Andi Dill DJ LAG GQOMking DJ Kenzhero DJ Superfly Kyle Russøuw & Robin Would Okmalumkoolkat Paul Waxon RudeBoyz Terrence Pearce Uppercut Dj Vinny Da Vinci Ahead of the festival is a three-day workshop that gives budding mix masters the chance to hone their skills and learn the tricks of the trade from the very best in the business. This year, the workshops will take place at the Red Bull Studio in Cape Town and Gugu S’Thebe in Langa from the 2nd to the 4th of February 2016.. Free and open to all, the CTEMF workshops explore the many different facets of this rapidly growing industry from the inside out.
