SHOW TIMESLOT: Monday 12pm till 3pm
Dubmasta China presents Word Sound & Power:
This show is primarily a Reggae showcase, and also highlights the music that influenced the birth of Reggae (mainly the Jamaican influences like Mento, Calypso, Bluebeat, Ska and Rockstead). Furthermore the show explores Dub music (which developed out of the instrumental tracks of artists and turned the sound engineer into a musician). Dancehall is also an important component of Reggae (initially Dancehall only referred to the music being played in the dances – which was Reggae anyway but the sound has developed it’s own distinct identity, hence “Dancehall” has become a genre on it’s own). Jungle and Drum & Bass also have firm roots in Reggae music, as well as dubstep – so these genres also form part of the show. The show generally will move from the old to the new and broadcasts from 12pm to 3pm every Monday. Every month there is a variation on the theme, so stay tuned. When the music hits, you feel no pain!
