Mel is a writer, editor and owner of the On a Music Bender website that aims to bring you details of what’s hot and happening in and around the local music scene. The main focus of the site is music which see’s Mel attending gigs and festivals across the City – often with a camera in hand.
PASSION AND DRIVING FORCE:
Music not only changes our mood, but it also changes the way we think and our perception of the world so make it your priority to listen to good music.
WHAT LISTENERS CAN EXPECT:
The latest and greatest with a special focus on the local music scene.
Mel is passionate about promoting local music and focuses on giving up-and-coming bands exposure and an opportunity to share their music with the masses. She has had a variety of guests from newer to more established South African artists on the other side of the mic sharing their stories of where it all began and their views on the SA music scene. From Jacques Moolman and Louis Roux (Shadowclub), Laudo Liebenberg (aKing), Andre Pienaar (Ashtray Electric and Moving House Band), Tailor (who co-osted a show with Mel), George van der Spuy (Taxi Violence), and more recently Zolani Mahola (Freshly Ground) and Kahn Morbee (The Parlotones) – to name a few.
The first hour of the show brings you the latest international charts while the second hour (The All SA Hour) is dedicated to our very awesome, home grown talents. Expect some band banter, new releases, gig guides and album/concert reviews.
