Mysterious paintings of the Aphex Twin logo have appeared London’s Elephant & Castle tube station.
Spotted over the weekend by various passers by, the illusionary logos have been stirring much speculation online, leading to rumours about a forthcoming album from the cryptic artist. You can check them out below.
Of course, it’s not the first time Aphex Twin – real name Richard D. James – has used bizarre methods to tease a forthcoming release. Ahead of 2014’s ‘Syro’, a blimp with his logo was spotted over London caused nothing short of hysteria among fans who had been waiting 13 years for a new album.
Elephant & Castle has held an interesting place in Aphex Twin’s history too. Famously, around the time of his ‘Come To Daddy’ EP in 1997, he lived in an unoccupied former bank across the street from Ministry of Sound.
The legendary experimental producer’s mythology was recently explored by The Quietus’ John Doran in a BBC Radio 4 documentary called ‘The Cult of Aphex Twin’. Early this year, the IDM game changer announced his first Berlin show in 15 years. He will play Funkhaus on Thursday 1st November.
